Happy girl in a Haltermelon

The Haltermelon is almost finished!  At least, it's progressed since this post.  I haven't added the little black seeds on the pink area, but I have to admit that I like it without.  I went a little crazy on the i-cord straps and ended up having to tie the back rather than use the button.  They're just too long.   I now know what the "i" in i-cord means.  I can't believe I was intimidated by knitting i-cords! Tessie seems happy about her new summer outfit, but it's probably the cookie in her hand.  Well, it still needs some blocking, but it's essentially done!  Now, if we could just have a little more warm weather!

It's gonna be a testosterone fest!

I had a 16 week ultrasound today.  It turns out that I have lots of ultrasounds in my future.  The babies are looking good and developing well so far and we learned today that the twins are boys! So, little Tess will have two older brothers and two younger ones.  It's going to be a crazy adventure.

Haltermelon progress

Here's the Summer halter I've been knitting over the last week for Tess.  I realize these pics are very dark and washed out.  I grabbed my Canon Powershot, but it doesn't seem to take very good photos anymore. Anyway, I'm getting close to knitting the straps.  It's a fun pattern written by Alana Dakos which can be found here.  For the green, I'm using Rowan Calmer in the colorway Kiwi and the pink is actually Berroco Weekend in a fun bright watermelon pink (fitting, eh?).  I have to admit that I'm not really liking the Berroco Weekend yarn much.  It splits very easily and it's extremely slippery. I would have preferred to use Rowan Calmer in a pink instead, but I just didn't want to wait for the yarn to ship.  I also, mistakenly, thought that both yarns were 75% cotton/25% acrylic, but it turns out that the Weekend yarn is 75% acrylic/25% cotton.  I hope that doesn't cause any problem when I go to wash it!
Okay, I guess I need to learn to knit an i-cord!

Just because...

she's so cute!!!!!

Highlights from a snowy week

I've been meaning to update for a while.  I hadn't realized that two weeks have gone by since my last post.
It's been another gloomy week here.  It's been snowing and/or raining since Wednesday and the house has been so dark.  It's really bringing me down especially since Spring decided not to show up this year.  When will I get to plant my garden?

So, here's this week's highlights:
  • I had to dig out the maternity clothes.  Last week, I was wearing my normal jeans and shirts and now, this week, it's maternity jeans.  I'm about 15 weeks now and this is the earliest I've ever had to transition into maternity clothes.
  • I'm still extremely tired.  I want a nap every day.  Sometimes, I get one.
  • I've started knitting again.  So, I must be feeling a little better. For weeks, it seems that I'd lost all interest in most of my hobbies.  I just didn't have the energy.  I've started knitting this for Tess.  It'll be cute for the summer (oh, I hope that Summer doesn't pass us by too!)
  • I haven't taken any pictures lately.  It's just too dark and overcast outside right now. I don't want any more pictures of snow on my blog right now.  On Thursday, I woke up to about 6 inches of snow.  I stood looking out the window and I saw a fox and three deer. It looked like the dead of Winter in my yard.  Sammy wore his snow pants.
  • It's time to start planning for Luke's 6th grade year. (How can he be in 6th grade already?)  I need to be prepared earlier this year.  The twins are due sometime in October (the later, the better).  It's weird not to have a true due date.
  • Tessie started to say "shoes" except it sounds more like "ooshz" but she's clearly talking about her footwear.
  • Tessie's hair has gotten all crazy and wild and I can't decide if she needs a trim or if I should just let it grow past this stage.  I can't wait for cute little braids.  It's going to be a while though.
Happy Weekend and I hope you're all enjoying a sunshine-y day.
