St. Patrick's Day Knitting

We had a busy and fun St. Patrick's Day this past weekend. I got up early to get our Irish stew (with Guinness) in the crock pot. I took Sammy and Tess to the Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade. Unfortunately, I scheduled Luke to take a babysitting course on St. Patrick's Day. So, Paul stayed behind with the twins to take Luke to his class. Along with our friends Ella and Evie, we enjoyed some of the parade. We couldn't stay for the whole parade as it's overwhelming for the little ones after a while. I was just happy to hear some bagpipes, see some Irish dancing and see lots of plaid everywhere!

Anyway, I decided to knit the girls and Sammy fun green hats to wear on St. Paddy's. It turns out that it was way too hot for these hats, but at least they posed for a picture. I used Plymouth Holiday Lights Yarn. It's very hard to see in these pictures (taken with my phone), but it sparkles. Little Tess is wearing a hat knit by Luke. Sam was a little disappointed that I couldn't knit him a hat with a leprechaun or pot of gold on it in time for St. Paddy's, but hey, he didn't get a pinch for not wearing green!

It's finished!

I started knitting this sweater for Sammy last October. I did take a knitting break after Tess was born in December. Double points, circulars and the Kitchener stitch...I learned so much making this Wallaby sweater. (I realize I have a lot of pictures of the boys posed in front of this door.)

I have to knit another one for my older son. I hope I can remember how I made this one!

Our friend Krissy visited us from Boston this past weekend. We took the opportunity to teach her to cast-on, knit and purl. She was a very enthusiastic learner. Here is the beginning of her scarf. It was so much fun for the three of us girls to chat and knit at the same time! Now that the sweater's done, back to the socks and a sweater for Luke.

How can he be 9 already?

Despite having a Star Wars theme for Luke's birthday party, he opted for the knights and dragons on his cake.

It's hard to find 9 places for candles with all those dragons in the way!

I really don't understand how my oldest boy can be 9 already. How did that happen?? I feel sad that it's starting to be a blur. It's true that time goes so fast and if you blink you could miss it all. Half my time with him is already gone. I know, I know I sound like a glass-half-empty kind of person, but in this case it's true. This time last year, he still had his baby front teeth and now he's looking so much like a big boy. Happy birthday to my darling Luke!!! Don't grow up so fast.

On another note, I have bake my last birthday cake this summer!!!
